PSTN Switch Off

27 July 2021

You may or may not have heard about the PSTN Switch Off, also called the ‘Great Switch Off’ by some.  If you’ve heard about it, you might not think it will affect your business.  And for a very small number, they’d be right.  But for the majority of businesses, there will be some area of the change that they will need to take into account.

On off

The PSTN Switch Off is where all UK residents, domestic and commercial, are being moved from the old analogue public switched telephone network (PSTN) to the new completely digital network.  It is already happening in different parts of the country and the aim is that it will all be done by 2025, at which time the old network will be deactivated.

While 2025 might seem a long way off, it is worth incorporating it into your planning now.  That’s because there’s a lot of things that might need checking, things that could be affected that aren’t immediately obvious.  Example include:

  • Phone lines (and internet connections)
  • Door entry systems
  • Burglar alarms
  • Point of sale equipment

This means that almost any business could have an issue as their PSTN is turned off.  Our role, here at Clyde Solutions, is to help you spot those potential issues and take steps to remedy them long before 2025 comes around.  You don’t want to get to that point and suddenly find crucial security or communications systems have stopped working!

We are offering a variety of services and even educational information to help you prepare for the Great Switch Off.  So reach out today to chat about your set up and don’t get left behind with the changing times.
